Wishbone, age 8 years 5 months, died on Thursday, April
14, 2005. He had battled liver disease since January 2001, nearly half
his life. Always a trouper, he had fared better than expected since
being tentatively diagnosed with liver cirrhosis and congestive heart
failure in November 2004, but his health declined drastically on
Thursday. That evening it became apparent that he would not benefit from
further treatment, so the decision was made to send him on his way
peacefully. Our thanks to the kind and compassionate staff at Animal
Emergency Hospital of North Texas in Southlake, especially Dr. Ramirez,
and to Dr. Roger Kendrick of Country Club Pet Hospital in Mansfield, who
took excellent care of Wishy for the last eight years.
Thanks, too, to all of our friends who have given their support during
his illness, and provided much needed shoulders.
